Fore!
Heads up, everyone, because our Girls Volleyball and Golf teams this year are, to put it simply, on fire. With pure athleticism and skill, these girls have spiked and birdied their way into becoming this year’s League Champs, proving that Del Norte has got a brutal but classy bite behind its bark. As their last seasons draw to a close (oh, the tears!), Volleyball Captain Lexi Reddick (12) and Golf Captain Paris Griffith (12) reflect on the performance of their respective teams and their expectations for the future.
Reddick enthusiastically comments, “I’m super excited that we won the Valley League! We definitely proved to everyone that we are the best team in the league. For playoffs, as of now we are the second seed and our goal right now is winning the CIF championships. We are taking it game by game, but I think we have a fair shot of upsetting Cathedral in the finals.” The team has come a long way since its humble beginnings, and in only its fourth season it has an excellent chance of winning the coveted CIF title and setting the bar high for future generations of Nighthawks.
When asked about the future for Girls Golf, Griffith responds with “I think that the seniors this year have definitely left a legacy for Girls Golf. We’ve created traditions that I hope the girls will carry on. As for winning another league title, it hasn’t always been easy, but I know the girls will work hard and I can’t wait to see what the future players bring to the team.” Girls Golf definitely has a lot to live up to—be sure to congratulate Griffith, as she is advancing to CIF Regionals.
The entire Girls Volleyball and Girls Golf teams have a lot to be proud of, and a lot to look forward to. Although this is the last season for Reddick and Griffith, the teams will no doubt continue this league-winning tradition for many years to come.
